At the southern tip of the island is the famous white cape of Lefkada (Today’s Duchy). At this cape was the Holy Temple of Apollo. According to tradition, the lyric poet Sappho was thrown into the sea from there. It is also very important to mention that Lefkada is the Homeland of Angelos Sikelianos and Aristotle Valaoritis, our national poets.
